hello. i am 5′11 and used to weight 240lbs. i have recently been working out and brought my weight down to just under 190lbs, which i accomplished by running. but i still have a considerate amount of fat in my chest and stomach areas. should i know begin to lift to help turn that fat into muscle or should i just continue to run? or both? ~~~thx

You need seven to nine hours of sleep each night (eight being the ideal) in order for your body to run efficiently. Without enough sleep the body stops producing muscle producing/fat burning hormones and starts increasing the release muscle destroying/fat depositing hormones. So to make things worse, you’ll also lose muscle, which lowers your metabolism. In addition, you will lack the energy and focus to get through your workouts which is a surely lead to overtraining. To top it off, research indicates that lack of sleep creates cravings and binges.

 

Cardiff Personal Training Tip #5: Prepare Food Before Hand

 

The hardest part about eating well is making sure you stick to the nutrition plan you have set for yourself. I can’t stress enough how important food preparation is for your success.

 

The best way is to prepare the meals or ingredients before hand so making the actual meal doesn’t take a lot of time. Set a day and time that you are going to prepare all the food for the coming week.

 

I like to set Sunday as my day for preparation; this means during the week making my meals take no time. You’ll be surprised to find that it actually takes less time overall for you to prepare things this way rather than prepare each meal each day.

 

Set aside a few hours on Sunday to prepare for the week ahead, but it doesn’t have to be Sunday; you can do it any day of the week, as long as you do it regularly.  Cook all the meat, chop all the vegetables, measure out all the yogurt and/or cottage cheese, and make dry mixes for each shake.

 

Have them ready and set aside so that you can grab them in the morning and bring them with you regardless of what your day or your kids hold in store for you.

What are the best ways to lose stubborn belly fat?

I am really wanting to lose my belly fat. I drink bottled water everyday, sometimes even 10 bottles of water a day. I walk on a treadmill for about 1-2 hours and do 100 sit ups everyday. And I have been trying to eat only 1 meal a day. But I don’t seem to be losing the belly fat like I want, and I have been trying this for 2 months. Anybody got any good ideas or suggestions?
